"A Match for the Marine" is a romantic comedy novel written by Jess Mastorakos. It was released on March 31st of this year and is perfect for those who enjoy sweet romance books! If you would like to purchase "A Match for the Marine" you can find it on Amazon.
Before I get into this review, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Jess! I found Jess on Instagram and she sent me her book to read and review. Thank you so much for sending me your book! As always, all opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
"A Match for the Marine" is a sweet romantic comedy novel which showcases Gunnery Sergeant Dex and relationship matchmaker Amy.
Dex is huge computer geek and according to his mother, he's not getting any younger! After years of prioritizing work over relationships, Dex's mom decides to take matters into her own hands. She signs her son up for a VIP matchmaking service in hopes of convincing him to finally settle down. Dex remains unconvinced but after his matchmaker, Amy, catches his eye, he seems to enjoy the process much more!
Amy is one of the best matchmakers at First Comes Love. When her aunt Julia decides to step down as CEO, Amy thinks she's got the position in the bag! Unfortunately for Amy, Julia decides to have her two best matchmakers compete for the job. Amy and Belinda must match up 3 different clients. Whoever completes this task in the shortest number of dates will become the new CEO of First Comes Love. Sounds easy, right? Wrong! Dex is one of Amy's 3 clients. His reluctance to trust the process paired with his developing crush on Amy means troubled waters ahead for Amy's CEO dreams. "A Match for the Marine" is a dual point of view romantic comedy which follows Amy's journey to getting her dream job and Dex's journey to find love.
I gave this book 4.5 stars on Goodreads! The writing in this book was wonderful. This was a quick and easy read, so much so that I was disappointed when it was over! I enjoyed how well Dax and Amy were developed and I think even side characters like Claire, Belinda, Huck and Lopez were interesting and were welcomed additions to the story. Amy and Dex may seem like opposites but they really compliment each other well! I enjoyed the premise of the story as well. My only complaint is that I wish the story hadn't tied up so quickly. Other than that, this was a very enjoyable read. I could see myself revisiting it in the future!
This is a very pure, clean, and sweet romantic comedy. I would reccomend for ages 15+. This is the perfect book for when you want to read something lighthearted and fun! This was my first read of Jess' books and it will certainly not be my last. Jess has many sweet military romance books, check out her website (which is linked below) to view them all!
"A Match for the Marine" is the first standalone book in an interconnected series. The next book, "A Blind Date for the Marine" is set to be released in July of this year. The next book follows Claire and Mateo's story and I am so excited to read it!
With all books that I read, I make a playlist to go along with the book. These playlists are full of songs which encapsulate the feeling of the story as a whole, capture the essence of a particular scene, or just remind me of one of the characters. You can find my playlist for "A Match for the Marine" on Apple Music or Spotify.
You can follow the author, Jess Mastorakos, on Instagram and on Goodreads. You can also check out her website! There is a page on her website where you can get a free copy of her e-book, "Forever with You"! I will be reading that soon and I highly encourage you to check it out!
I hope you enjoyed my review of "A Match for the Marine"! Let me know if you'll be adding it to your list of books to read!
