It is no secret here on the blog that I reference "Bookstagram" quite often! If you are unfamiliar with the term, Bookstagram is a community of readers who primarily post and view book related content. Anyone can be a member of the Bookstagram community, (as long as you enjoy books, of course!) you do not just have to be a content creator!
I originally began following Bookstagram a few years ago. I loved to read and enjoyed getting to hear other reader's thoughts on books that I had read or was planning on reading.
About two months into my Madison Loves Books Blog endeavor, I decided to take the plunge and become an active member of Bookstagram! I created an account (@Madisonlovesbooks creative, right?!) where I highlight the blog and my book reviews. I love getting to connect with other people from all over the globe! I have truly been welcomed by so many individuals and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to have this platform to share my love of reading with fellow book lovers.
There are so many awesome accounts who I follow and love and think you would too! While I would love to highlight them all, I will just start with a few for now!
Lindsay: @theopinionatedreader
I recently joined a Facebook Group and found Lindsay there and I am SO glad that I did!
Lindsay is from Athens, Georgia which is not far from where I am from! Go Dawgs, by the way! She joined Bookstagram in December of 2020 and currently has over 4,000 followers. As her Instagram name implies, she is opinionated. If she did not enjoy a book, she will voice that opinion in her review. Each of her book reviews are thorough and are entirely honest. Personally, I appreciate how honest she is! I always look forward to reading her reviews and getting her personal and health updates as well. In addition to her successful Bookstagram account, Lindsay also has a blog: Bagged and Beautiful. On her blog she discusses her chronic illness and disability, motherhood, and everything in-between.
Lindsay, as always, I am sending you all of the love and good vibes! Thank you for being so kind and welcoming to me on this platform and thank you for creating awesome content!
BTW: Lindsay is a complete reading animal and has already read 71 books this year!! Her goal is to read at least 150 this year. How awesome is that!
Haley: @heavenlybookhaven
Haley's account is one of the most beautiful Bookstagram accounts that I have ever seen! I adore the time that she takes to stylize the photos that she posts. I found Haley when I started my own account. We followed each other and I have been hooked on her content ever since. She joined Bookstagram in March of 2021 and currently has nearly 900 followers. Don't even get me started on how much I love her book journal! I always look forward to when her posts pop up on my feed. She really puts a lot of time and effort into the content that she publishes and I want to take a minute to acknowledge it. She has fantastic taste in books, she is a Gryffindor, and is a fellow self-proclaimed book nerd. Some of her favorite books and book series are: "Little Women", "The Selection" series, the "Harry Potter" series, and the "Percy Jackson" series. If you love any of those series (and even if you don't) I highly suggest that you give Haley a follow on Instagram. Haley, I too am a sucker for books with a cinematic universe!
If you aren't already, you can follow Haley on Instagram!
Cat: @_basicbookworm
I found Cat after joining Bookstagram! She was one of my first followers and I quickly followed her back! I love Cat's aesthetic. Her account is so vibrant and fun. It reminds me of summer and sunshine! She joined Bookstagram in May of 2020 and currently has over 5,000 followers. Her reviews are so well written and are really helpful when finding new books to add to my ever-growing TBR.
Cat has a cart where she stores her Book of the Month books. I know many people do this, but I originally saw this on her page and I credit her with this idea. So thank you, Cat, for helping me step up my book storage game (and for allowing me more surface area to work with on my regular bookshelves! More space= more books!).
Like Lindsay, Cat is a complete reading machine! She has completely SMASHED her 2021 reading goal. According to her Goodreads, her goal was to read 100 books this year but she has already read 174 books so far!
Emma: @thrilledtoreadya
If you know me you know that I am a huge mystery/thriller/true crime fan! I have found my mystery/thriller/true crime loving soul-sister on Bookstagram. Emma (@thrilledtoreadya) posts book reviews and other book related content for books which fall into one of those categories. She joined Bookstagram in January of 2021 and currently has over 4,000 followers. I believe she may be branching out and posting about other genres as well but if you also love a good thriller, Emma is your girl! All of her reviews are super well presented and I love how in depth she goes into the synopsis of the books that she posts about. She really gets me hooked with every book and gives me so many awesome recommendations to add to my TBR!
Abi: @abireads_
First of all, Abi's wardrobe is to die for. I love all of her outfits and I am convinced that she has my dream closet! Had to put that out there before I get started on how much I love her book content! Abi's reviews are in-depth, concise, and are super helpful when trying to decide which books to read next. I often look to her account for guidance on which books I should read and, occasionally, which ones I may not enjoy. Her aesthetic is more minimalistic but is so beautiful!!
She joined Bookstagram in May of 2017 and currently has over 7,000 followers. Though her high follower count is definitely due to her wonderful content, she also often showcases her adorable dogs in her pictures. If you love reading and cute dogs, Abi is the perfect Bookstagrammer for you!
Abi is also crushing her 2021 reading. She has already read 92 books so far this year! Props to you, Abi!
If you aren't already, you can follow Abi on Instagram!
Rose: @rose_books22
The final Bookstagrammer that I want to shout-out in today's post is Rose! Before I started my own Bookstagram page, I was posting my book reviews and blog posts on my personal Instagram account. Rose found my personal page from the Book related hashtags I added to my posts. When I finally caved and made my own Bookstagram account, Rose was the first account I followed. She was the first Bookstagrammer who ever welcomed me into the Bookstagram community. Thank you, Rose, for welcoming me!
Rose posts all about her current and upcoming reads. She also highlights some of her favorite reads on her page. She joined Bookstagram in March of 2021 and she currently has over 200 followers. Recently, she read "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" which is one of my upcoming reads. The picture that she posted for that review is stunning! I always look forward to reading her thoughts on books that I have read and even some that I haven't read yet!
If you aren't already, you can follow Rose on Instagram!
As I said earlier, there are so many wonderful Bookstagram creators out there. I wish that I could showcase them all here, but I wanted to just start with a few for now! All of these accounts are linked, I encourage you to check each of them out and give them a follow.
Do you follow any Bookstagram Accounts? If so, who are your favorite Book-ish content creators? Let me know in the comments down below!
As always, thank you for reading!
